We’re all back to cold, cold Connecticut!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:46 pm

Well finally the entire staff of LOFT GOLF are all back in CT.  I told you I may be able to offer some more quality travel tips and boy can I!  We left Orlando at about noon on Wednesday vowing to never, and I mean NEVER drive the over 1,200 miles straight through again.  That being said, we stopped in a town called Rocky Mount, NC to get a place to sleep at about 11:00 PM Wednesday night.  Well, your ‘ole pal Stickmon is not much for frills when it comes to lodgeing so we decided to get rooms at the Red carpet Inn in Rocky Mount.  Yup, I’ll admit I was sucked into the free wi/fi, but I was more sucked into the $29.95 per room price tag.  While getting the room, I asked the woman at the front desk “are these rooms alright”?.  I knew I we weren’t at the Hilton but at least wanted assurance that we wouldn’t be killed in our sleep!  She stated “yeah”, and that was that.  We went to our rooms, room numbers 148 and 150 and proceeded to enter the rooms.  I have never, and what I mean by never is N-E-V-E-R seen a more disgusting room in my life!  The vanity in the room (yup, I said room, not bathroom, was cracked in the center and folding in-ward.  There was no clock, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, shampoo or inside security lock.  I was sure that we would all become part of the cast for next weeks America’s Most Wanted but began to relax when I realized that even the most hardened criminal wouldn’t step foot on this property!  Our truck was fully loaded with LOFT stuff, mannequinns and a whole bunch of stuff I didn’t want to lose so I did the sensible thing and stayed up all night!  When it was time to finally get back on I-95 North we all took showers and were treated to towels that were about the size of dish towels.  We knew they weren’t dish towels though ’cause they would’ve scratched the dishes beyond recognition (yeah, they were that bad).  We all rushed into our soap scum covered showers and enjoyed washing our body and hair with the world’s smallest bar of soap.  Nope, no shampoo! This experience has changed me forever!  I will never, ever stay at a room that I can buy for $30 again.  When we went to check out, and return the rooms TV remote (no really, the remote was handed to us after we payed), the woman at the front desk never asked if everything was all right.  Nope, she knew.  We were just happy to escape with our lives.  I would love to say that some of this story was embellished to add humor but I swear to God it’s the absolute truth.  If you ever invite the LOFT crew to your town, there had better be a Hilton in the area or we will NOT be there!  Oh, and if there is a Hilton, we’d like to have the owner’s granddaughter stop in to say hello!  That is my final travel tip ’till we head for Tampa in March for another huge golf show.  Wow! This poularity thing is getting tough…but we love it!  LOFT on lofters, we love ya!
