The LOFT crew just dropped off 63 turkeys!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:13 am

Your friends at LOFT Golf have just returned from dropping off 63 turkeys to our local food bank!  Won’t yo please take the time to do the same?  We’re not asking for you to donate 63 turkeys, but one would be great.  No one should go hungry, especially on Thanksgiving.  We all know how hard times are for everyone right now but our crew averaged spending $.50 a pound.  An 18 pound turkey will set you back only $9.00, and we promise you, you’ll feel great doing it!  Go donate turkeys!

A non-golf observation

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:39 am

I would have to guess that Empire Carpet spends millions per year for their advertising company to come up with their ads.  That being the case, who was the genius that OK-ed the phrase “60% off carpet won’t last long”?  I don’t want to buy carpet that “won’t last long”.  Now, back to golf!…

My favorite holiday is coming! Thanksgiving :)

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:15 pm

Well, after waiting more than 11 months, my favorite holiday is almost here again…Thanksgiving!  Man, I love Thanksgiving!  It’s one of a few holidays that don’t involve gifts, stress and aggravation.  Thanksgiving is all about getting together with family and friends, over eating and watching football.  Every year we have approximately 15 guests to our home for traditional Thanksgiving cuisine.  This is a rare post that doesn’t have to do with golf.  Don’t get used to it!  All of us at L.O.F.T. Golf are thankful for all of our ‘lofters’ and wish EVERYONE a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving!

No L.O.F.T. Shirt For You!!!

KAPPA, Ill. – Central Illinois amateur golfer Curt Hocker is on a roll. Five rolls, to be exact.Ask anyone at the El Paso Golf Club, where the 22-year-old has recorded five holes-in-one in the last week, including two on Saturday.  In this year alone, Hocker has seven aces — five on par-4s — and two other double eagles. ”I don’t know what to think,” said Hocker, who works in the club’s pro shop. “After each one I say it’s over, and it keeps happening.”

Friends and family, 15 of whom have witnessed Hocker’s strokes of luck while playing with him, are equally mystified.

“It’s incomprehensible this kind of luck could happen, but it does happen,” said El Paso pro Steve Fulton. “There are other things in life that have been just as weird and eerie that have happened. What are the odds?”

Hocker said he’s just glad his club membership comes with “hole-in-one insurance.”

That “insurance” means the club — not Hocker — has to honor the golf tradition of buying everyone in the clubhouse a drink after an ace is made.

“I think the golf course is getting mad at me for all the drinks,” Hocker said. “It’s hard to talk about, but it’s awesome to have it happen.”

New Rules Of Golf

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:18 am
NOW THAT OBAMA IS ELECTED, THE USGA WOULD LIKE TO INFORM ALL GOLFERS THAT THE FOLLOWING RULES WILL APPLY:

This is only a preview as the complete rule book is being rewritten now.
Here are some of the basic changes:

Golfers with handicaps:
- below 10 will have their green fees increase by 35%
- between 11 and 18 will see no increase in green fees
- above 18 will play for free and even get a check from the club/course played

The dollar amount put in for bets will be as follows:
-for handicaps below 10 an additional $10
-between 11 and 18 no additional amount
-above 18 you will receive the total amount in the pot and you do not even have to play.

The term “gimme” putt will be changed to “entitlement” and will be used as follows:
-handicaps below 10, no entitlements
-handicaps above 11 to 17, entitlements for putter length putts
-handicaps above 18, if on green, no need to ever putt, just pick it up

These “entitlements” are intended to bring about fairness in scoring so that the final scores of all players will be about the same.

In addition, a Player will be limited to a max of one birdie and/or six pars, any excess must be given to those fellow players who have not yet scored a birdie or par. Only after all players have received a birdie or par from the player making the birdie or par, can that Player begin to count his score again.

The current USGA handicap system will be used for the above purposes but the term “net score” will be available only for scoring those players with handicaps 18 and above.

This is intended to “redistribute” the success of winning by making sure that in every competition the above 18 handicap players will post only “net score” against every other player’s gross score.

These new Rules are intended to CHANGE the game of golf. Golf must be about Fairness Only, it should have nothing to do with Ability.
