The True Legacy Of L.O.F.T. GOLF
It was an unseasonably warm day in April 2001 when two good friends, Bob and John, were out for their usual Saturday round of golf. Bob, being a golf veteran of many years, was doing his best to help John “find his game”. Per usual, it wasn’t working and John was struggling even more than usual. With each passing shot the agony continued for John. Shortly after tossing his 5 iron into the river just off the sixth hole, John could no longer conceal his anguish and asked Bob for some much needed advice. “What am I doing wrong?” John pleaded. Bob simply uttered, “loft” and said no more.
As the round proceeded the situation deteriorated; and the seeking of advice by John continued. Each and every time his friend’s reply was the same . . . ”loft”.
Finally, after five grueling hours of “play”, they arrived at the 18th hole and John pulled from his bag (now containing 13 clubs), his most lofted iron and proceeded to “hack” his way to the green. After putting out for an eleven, he turned to Bob and said, “Thanks a lot. I used my club with the most loft and look what happened!”
Upon retreating to the clubhouse, for a much needed cold adult beverage, Bob explained to John; “You misunderstood me when you asked what you were doing wrong. I wasn’t implying that the problem was the loft of your club: it was your “Lack OF Talent!!”
